General Description
Responsible for planning, creating, establishing, managing, monitoring and serving as a subject matter expert in leading Popular’s Enterprise-wide Operational Risk framework; Business Continuity Planning Program and Corporate Outsourcing of Service Providers Program. Develops policies, standards and procedures necessary to ensure company compliance with all applicable law and regulations. Leads the development of risk management strategies through the identification, quantification and mitigation of risk that can impact public opinion or the earnings of the organization. Responsible for handling critical events which may include business disruptions; and convene the response team. Manages the communication with senior management, internal business units, and external and internal auditors. Participate in Business Continuity efforts with the public and private sector to understand emergency management implications on the Bank’s BCP and Life Safety Programs. Lead development and reporting of operational risk metrics, including Key Risk Indicators. Manage and develop an operational risk dashboard to track the Coporations’s operational risk assessment activities, remediation efforts, and consolidated risk metric reporting.
Other Qualifications
- Previous supervisory experience and the ability to motivate and coach resources as well as the ability to negotiate effectively along with interacting and conveying ideas effectively to Senior Management, regulators, vendors and internal customers is required.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills (Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, and develops alternative solutions.)
- Excellent oral and written communications skills in both English and Spanish (Must be completely bilingual).
- Excellent knowledge of Word Processing, Presentations, Spreadsheets, Internet, Internal Business software and other related software.
- Thorough understanding of technology and its integration with the financial institution operating environment.
- Experience and knowledge of the following areas: Information Security, Vendor Management, Business Continuity, Fraud Prevention, Operational Risk, Risk Management.
- Ability to process computer data and format and generate reports.
- Ability to learn and support new systems and applications.
- Ability to use mathematical and statistical knowledge to support of Operational Risk Management.
Education
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Business Administration with major in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, or Computer Engineering/Computer Science
Experience & Certifications
Eight to ten years of related experience in Management positions or in a consulting role with a broad view of operational processes. Certifications and licenses such as CPA, CISA, CISM or other related IT Certifications preferred.
